The actor behind that surprise cameo in The Marvels has now teased his possible return to the MCU, which makes me hopeful that Monica Rambeau could join him. Despite its disappointing performance at the box office, I actually found 2023"s The Marvels incredibly enjoyable. The movie progressed Carol Danvers" story as Captain Marvel brilliantly, gave more screen-time to Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan, and tied in dramatically to the Multiverse Saga"s overarching narrative. This was most evident in The Marvels" post-credits scene, which trapped Rambeau in an alternate universe inhabited by the X-Men.
Kelsey Grammer reprised his X-Men: The Last Stand role of Hank McCoy"s Beast in The Marvels" post-credits scene, much to everyone"s surprise. I was previously disappointed that Grammer"s Beast didn"t get a lot of development before being recast with Nicholas Hoult ahead of X-Men: First Class, so it was great to see Grammer"s return. However, Beast"s appearance made me very curious about Monica Rambeau"s whereabouts and future in the MCU, which still hasn"t been confirmed almost a year later.

To seal the hole, Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel powered-up Monica Rambeau, who promptly closed the gap between universes, trapping herself on the other side. I was overjoyed when she woke to find a variant of her mother, operating as the cosmic hero Binary, and iconic X-Men member Beast. This may have hinted at her being in Fox"s X-Men Universe of Earth-10005, but Marvel Studios hasn"t confirmed Rambeau"s actual whereabouts.

However, as much as I and others may have enjoyed it, The Marvels still performed pretty abysmally at the box office, becoming a box office bomb and the lowest-grossing MCU project yet. While this doesn"t confirm Beast"s return, it has me hopeful that the iconic X-Men member, and perhaps other members of the team, could be explored in more detail.

Rambeau even led the Avengers team in battle against Marvel"s mutants during 2012"s Avengers vs. X-Men event in the comics, which some have suggested has been set up by The Marvels" post-credits scene. She is a major superhero in Marvel Comics, so she needs to stick around for more than two projects in the MCU.
Monica Rambeau first joined the Avengers under the moniker of Captain Marvel in 1982"s Avengers #227, as she sought the team"s help in mastering her new abilities.
The Marvels also made Monica Rambeau a key connection between Earth"s Mightiest Heroes and organizations such as SWORD and SABER. I imagine Rambeau being the key to exploring many new and exciting corners of the MCU, connecting the franchise"s cosmic heroes, including Captain Marvel, to the heroes of Earth, such as Ms. Marvel. Monica Rambeau has already displayed her incomprehensible level of power, sealing a gap in the universe, so she could be a huge asset to the MCU for years after The Marvels.
